VIDEO | EU-SysFlex workshop: 50% Renewables by 2030

On behalf of the EU-SysFlex consortium, EURACTIV organised a high-level Stakeholder event to discuss the future EU power system and how a higher share of renewables can be integrated. The workshop took place on 4 December 2019 in the premises of the European Parliament in Brussels.

Given the EU’s ambition, the electricity system will undergo a significant transformational change over the next decade. The share of renewable energy sources from electricity (RES-E), in particular from wind and solar, must increase dramatically. The workshop addressed the main system operation challenges associated with decarbonization, long-term needs, technical scarcities and feasible innovations and improvements within the European market design.
